ABOUT ONE BREATH
Our Vision is to breathe life and be the most impactful life changing, transformational coaching resources in the world. For over forty years Ted Gustus Jr., prolific Basketball Coach, Educator, Author, and current PSAL Commissioner of Basketball for Brooklyn, has worked in many of New York City’s most disadvantaged communities. His newest book, “The Power In One Breath: A 12-step Game Plan To Breathe Life and Transform America's Hoodz" Into Revitalized And Empowered Neighborhoods”, outlines Gustus’ proven methodologies for successfully transforming thousands of young men of color into productive members of society.
As a former teacher, Gustus utilizes pedagogical best practices such as varied learning modalities (Visual, Auditory, Tactile and Kinesthetic) and cooperative activities to encourage maximum student comprehension and retention during facilitated learning opportunities. Gustus’ 12-step Game Plan also emphasizes the coaching technique he has used both professionally (Collegiate/Semi-Pro) and personally to deal with tragedy and loss in his own life. These techniques challenge the “negative thoughts and compulsive, addictive behaviors” which he views are the root causes of a “defected and broken American made product”, which he refers to as “America’s Hoodz”.
THE NEW YORK CITY HIGH SCHOOL
BASKETBALL ALUMNI ASSOCIATION
It's Long Overdue
We memorialize players from New York City High School Basketball teams who turned Professional. Our fellow Alumni take time out of their schedule to give back to the Community. Forming this organization, allows us to concentrate our efforts in affecting change. We are very excited to continue our work and expand so our youth will have a better start at life and success.
LOCALLY & ABROAD
In order to inspire young people's enthusiasm for sports and life through basketball training, the Federation of Women's Federations invited American legendary basketball coach and educator Ted Gustus and their groups to attend the exchange activities in China and arranged over one hundred students to be on the scene so that students can get in touch with them. The "masters" have zero-distance contact and the scene is quite lively. At the same time, the event also arranged a sharing session. Ted Gustus shared his basketball career experience and encouraged students to cultivate their interest from childhood, to be passionate about what they are interested in, and to continue to progress toward their goals.
